Jeff O’Hara’s photos

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

At one of the parties surrounding VON/Podcamp, I met Jeff O’Hara. He was carrying around a Nikon D40, and I’m always interested to talk to other Nikon guys to see what glass they have in their bag (and by that I mean lenses). I was tired of shooting, and he didn’t have anything good on him (I think just a kit lens) so I let him borrow my 18-200 VR Nikkor lens.

So he goes off to shoot better photos with it than I could. Me knowing the lens, and also having a camera that costs nearly 4x as much didn’t help me when it came down to skills and having an eye for it.

His photos from Podcamp are pretty good, but also he’s got all of this other photos which are simply great. He got a almost decent one of me even (and a somewhat funny one), and a really funny one of Julia Roy (ok two).

His other photos however are simply great. He’s got a few that I really really like from around what I guess is his home. His ones of flowers rock.

Ordered the Crumpler

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

So I decided to order the Crumpler Sinking Barge backpack. I did so after going to a local photo store and checking it out. I’d have taken the one there home, except for the fact that it was a color of blue which is unlike anything in my wardrobe.

I ordered this over the Adventure 9 backpack for the reason that I simply don’t need that much space for stuff in a bag (the adventure 9 offers far more space for lenses and such) and that I liked the simplicity of the Crumpler. It doesn’t look like a photographer’s bag. Traveling in Europe I am sure that will be an asset. Also the less of a hassle the bag is to open up, the easier it will be for security.

I ended up ordering the black/slate color one and it should be here Monday. Yeah! Not in time for traveling to NJ, but I’ll likely leave my camera at home for that anyway. I haven’t had a new backpack since 8th or 9th grade so I’m pretty excited about this.

Oh, and for anyone wondering, it holds a Nikon D200 body with the 18-200 Nikkor lens and a Macbook Pro 15.3″ just fine. I’m not sure why a person to two had commented it online to not be big enough. I took my gear to the store to try it out and it was perfect.

Thank You David Siedband!

Friday, August 24th, 2007

I need to give a major thank you to David Siedband for purchasing me a 1 year Flickr Pro account. It was a very nice gift and I’m very happy to now be able to upload as many photos as I want to.

Speaking of, I need to dust off my camera and get back to shooting. Haven’t done enough photography lately.

If you haven’t seen it, here’s my flickr acct.

Again, thank you!
