My uncle David Lester Glass died one year ago. He was a major influence on my life and is much missed. I generally don’t put that much personal
here, but this is important to me. Here is a reprint of his obituary from the Deep Creek Republican newspaper:
DAVID L. GLASS
David L. Glass, 57, of Oakland died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, at his home.
Born on April 14, 1949, in Oakland, he was a son of the late Robert and Olive (Friend) Glass. He was also preceded in death by a great-nephew, Andrew Scott Fike.
He was a member of the Deep Creek Baptist Church, where he served on the board of trustees. He was employed by Maryland Minerals, and was a 35-year member and former assistant chief of the Deep Creek Lake Volunteer Fire Co., McHenry.
He is survived by three sisters, Joan H. Blye, Keyser, W.Va., Betty M. Fike, Oakland, and Mary I. Fisher, Greensboro, N.C.; and one brother, Robert L. Glass, Columbus, Ga.
Friends will be received today, Feb. 8, at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
A service will be conducted at the Deep Creek Baptist Church on Friday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Donald Wilson and Pastor Dennis Leatherman officiating.
Interment will be in the Thayerville Cemetery.
Few people reading this blog will have known about him, but I wanted to make sure to get this out there so that internet archiving services picked this up.
