More SonicCord photos

September 14th, 2007 Comments

Here’s a few more photos of my SonicCord amp. Serial 0004. As per my earlier post, it seems that Sonic Cord is possibly no longer in business.

Huge transformers on the amp (Hammond). Just EL34 and two ECC84 tubes.

Hi, What you've heard is sad but true Soniccord is out of business. The Owner has certainly moved on he is very hard to get a hold of and he lives like 5 miles away. He has not followed up on repairs that he agreed to do for free, which I did'nt even ask for. I am still hopeful I can get a hold of him. I have a Toad and the head and cab version of your Bantam. By the way is it still for sale? - Eben

Hey, I have # 403 a Sonic Cord Toad. It is a 30/35 watt origianlly class a only then sent back to the manufacturer when they started adding a class A/B toggle switch
and changed over to non bias tube swap capable
Calss A single ended only runson 2/EL34's toggle switch to Cass A/B and you can run 2/6L6's or 2/KT66's they both can run in Cals a or Cass a/b both. The El/34's are required to be in the Class a only mode.
Came special ordered from the original owner with a big 15in Legend. A huge sound andfro my style it takes too much to push the 15 to distort as I don't use pedals which of course wold be an easy remedy.
I have considered selling but everyone says what the heck is it? It does sound very good as it is at my techs house now and he keeps going back to it telling me how damn good it sounds. If I keep I will make a 2x10 cab with low watt easy break up speakers and I think this thing will take a new life on. As it is, it would be grreat for a Jazz player that would really shine. It is in on a 10 scale 9-9.5 condition email is yancosky91@comcast.net
Would like to sale and get the $410 I have into it but if I can't I am absolutely certain crossing into a 2x10 cab will do the trick well any interest e mail me

PS. I forgot to mention I picked this up about 6 months ago and at that time Sonic Cord had a web sight and were adevertizing the toad for about $1700 the information was on my old computer and of course it crashed. Now that I go back to look for it I see nothing linking to the manufacturer. I know a renown boutique
tube amp manufacturer rom Baltimore who told me his supply cost alone has gone up 500% in the past year. So, perhaps your right maybe they are out of business.
could be a good thing for future rarity of the amp who knows ? i never thought Gibson Sg's I paid $150 for used would now sell for 5 & ten grand it's a crazy scene
